Although it is difficult to represent texture digitally - and in particular over the internet - touch certainly plays a significant role in how we experience the world. It then seemed appropriate to present the different textures which a patron experiences in the pub. The experience of these textures is not necessarily a conscious experience, but it adds to the aggregate of the myriad factors which influence the pub experience.

Think About:

• Are a range of textures found in the pub? Is variety of texture a key aspect of pub atmosphere?
• Is this set of textures unique to the Wickenden Pub or are they fairly common?
• Most of these textures are of natural materials. Does this matter? Would the experience be different with all man made materials?
• Is it possible to understand texture through only visual means?
