Organizational techniques are not perhaps an obvious choice in the study of pub atmosphere. Yet organization is clearly a concern - there are dozens of glasses and liquor bottles and types of beer, all of which have to be organized in some way. And because of the nature of this type of establishment, the results of this organization are often on display to the general public.

Think About:

• How does organization impact atmosphere? Is a better organized pub more or less comfortable?
• How does organization impact business income?
• What is organized and displayed for public viewing and what is organized merely for convenience? Is there a difference?
• Are there certain sets of material culture that are not publicly organized?
