Rhode Island Hall (exterior)

The Joukowsky Institute welcomes all the families that are visiting campus for Brown University's Family Weekend, which this year also coincides with the Archaeological Institute of America's International Archaeology Day.

This year, we invite everyone to visit us virtually through the many tours and exhibits we have created. You might start with exploring the many entries in our Virtual Vault, to see objects from our teaching collections and learn more about each of them. You can also browse our full collection online.

If you're using a mobile device, you can use our Mobile Guide to Rhode Island Hall, which includes a link to Petra at the Joukowsky, a student project that highlights the artifacts in Rhode Island Hall that come from Brown’s excavations at the “Great Temple Complex” of Petra, Jordan. If the Mobile Guide piques your interest about the history of our building, you might enjoy two student projects made as the building was being renovated in 2008 and 2009: An Archaeology of Rhode Island Hall and The Transformation of Rhode Island Hall.

You could end by visiting our online exhibit, Sherds!, which includes a virtual gallery

We hope everyone enjoys a weekend filled with family and archaeology!
