Brown University's Graduate School has chosen to highlight Joukowsky Institute doctoral candidate Samantha Lash on the website's homepage.  In addition to being a Ph.D. student in Archaeology and the Ancient World, Lash is pursuing a master’s degree in Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences through the Open Graduate Education program. Her research focuses on the physical responses to climate change in the countries surrounding the Western Mediterranean during the 1st millennium BCE examined through a political ecology lens. As a result of her involvement with DEEPS, she’s been able to dynamically change her dissertation topic and speak across the disciplines about climate change and archeology in ways that were not possible without both areas of study.
