Postdoctoral Fellow in Archaeology and the Ancient World (2014-2016)

Brett Kaufman is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Joukowsky Institute for Archaeology and the Ancient World at Brown University. Prior to his position at Brown, he graduated with a PhD in Archaeology from the Cotsen Institute at UCLA in 2014.

His research interests include identifying surplus in the archaeological record, developing methods to quantify cultural responses to environmental change, and studying innovations in ancient engineering technologies through the discipline of archaeometallurgy. He co-directs the Zita Project in the Archaeology, Anthropology, and Ethnography of Southern Tunisia.
