The Graduate Program in Pathobiology is invested in supporting students from groups historically underrepresented in medicine and science. In accordance with Brown University’s Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan, the Program mentors students, participates in the nationwide Leadership Alliance, and provides leadership within the Program through the Pathobiology Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiative.

The Pathobiology Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiative strives to eliminate structural and systemic barriers in a culturally inclusive way and offer recommendations to Pathobiology Program leadership to improve equity and empower underrepresented groups.
University Initiatives
Initiative to Maximize Student Development
The Graduate Program in Pathobiology is an active partner in Brown's Initiative to Maximize Student Development (IMSD). The program provides research training support for students in underrepresented groups in and effort to increase the participation of these groups within the fields of biomedical and behavioral research.
The Leadership Alliance
Program faculty serve as mentors in the Leadership Alliance Summer Research-Early Identification Program (Brown SR-EIP), which provides nine-week summer research opportunities for outstanding undergraduates interested in exploring the nature of advanced graduate school study.
