A number of special activities and events are integral to graduate training at NIH. 

Brown Student Seminar Series

Once arriving at NIH, students are required to present their laboratory research at this monthly seminar series at NIH. This seminar series also serves as a way for the Brown community at NIH to network, catch up, plan events, and discuss issues related to the program.

Neuroscience Interest Groups

A number of scientific interest groups (SIGs) at NIH relate to neuroscience. They have open membership and meet regularly for seminars highlighting work at NIH and invited outside researchers. These are an excellent way for students to keep abreast of developments in the neuroscience communities at NIH and beyond. Current SIGs include: Synaptic and Developmental Plasticity Interest Group and Synaptic Integration Seminar Series.

OITE Courses

The Office of Intramural Training and Education (OITE) provides myriad resources for graduate students to develop career skills outside the lab. Frequent courses and workshops focus on developing skills for academic (and non-academic) careers, like mentoring, grant applications, and workplace dynamics.
