There are 3 fields in the Coeus record that capture details about the prior submission for a Changed/Corrected application: Previous Grants.gov Tracking ID, Original Proposal, and Sponsor Proposal No. Below are detailed instructions for each field:
Previous Grants.gov Tracking ID - This field must reference the latest Grants.gov tracking ID assigned to the proposal you are correcting.

How to locate the previous Grants.gov Tracking ID:
- Search for the proposal development record that was most recently submitted and received an error from NIH eRA Commons.
- Open the submission in display mode.
- Go to Action > Grants.gov to navigate to the the Grants.gov Submission Details window.
- Click on the Submission Status tab.
- Document the ID in the Grants Tracking ID field.

Requirements of the ID entered
- The ID must contain 13 characters with no spaces.
- The ID must begin with “GRANT” and be followed by 8 numerical digits.
- Example - GRANT12765152
Original Proposal - This field must reference the Institute Proposal number of the previously submitted proposal. The affiliated Proposal Development record must have a Grants.gov Tracking ID affiliated with it. If it does not, please contact your Grant/Contract Administrator.
Sponsor Proposal No. - This field should only be completed when submitting a Changed/Corrected application for a “Resubmission”, “Renewal”, or “Revision” type of application. Enter the IC and serial number of the previously assigned application/award number with no spaces (e.g., CA987654).
