Course Title:
Formaldehyde Exposure Control

Course Description:
Formaldehyde Exposure Control Training is an on-line training session developed by the University Chemical Hygiene Officer and covers key topics and handling instructions to minimize formaldehyde exposure. Some of the items covered during this training include, but not limited to, the following topics:

  • Physical Properties
  • Health Effects
  • Exposure Levels (PEL, STEL, Action Levels, etc)
  • Review of OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1910.1048
  • Engineering Controls to Minimize Exposure
  • PPE Requirements
  • Emergency Response Procedures
  • First Aid
  • Labeling
  • Storage
  • Disposal Considerations
  • Discussion Topics

Who Must Attend?
Formaldehyde Exposure Control Training is required for employees exposed to formaldehyde concentrations of 0.1ppm or greater.

When Must Initial Training be Completed?
Formaldehyde Exposure Control must be completed at the time of initial assignment.

How Often Must I Attend a Refresher Course?
For those who are required to attend Formaldehyde Exposure Control Training, refresher is required annually.
