Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC)

Description:
Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) is a 60-minute
session presented by the Environmental Compliance Officer. The training
program is conducted to ensure personnel understand and are properly
instructed to perform their responsibilities under the SPCC Plan,
and includes but is not limited to:
- Overview
of the contents of the SPCC Plan
- Overview
of applicable pollution control laws, rules and regulations
- Proper operation
and maintenance of equipment to prevent discharges
- Inspections
- Fueling
Procedures
- Familiarization
with applicable environmental, health, and safety hazards associated
with oil
- Spill response
procedures and equipment and possible spill scenarios
Who
Must Attend?
Brown University personnel whose job duties involve the handling
or management of oil are required to complete the SPCC training
program.
When
Must Initial Training be Completed?
New personnel with job duties that involve the handling or management
of oil receive SPCC training prior to working unsupervised.
How
Often Must I Attend a Refresher Course?
SPCC Training is required annually.
