Big-headed Turtle

Lateral view, X-ray video of buccal oscillation in Platysternon megacephalum. The turtle is partially submerged in water. This is an x-ray positive video: bones appear dark, air in the lungs and buccal cavity appears light and water appears gray. Note that there is no visible change in lung volume associated with buccal oscillation.
