Lateral view of buccal pumping and buccal oscillation. Flank movements associated with lung ventilation are visible, but note that some buccal movements are not associated with flank movements. The ventilatory buccal movements are buccal pumps and the non-ventilatory buccal movements are buccal oscillations.
