Jen Thum

Jen Thum, a doctoral student in Archaeology and the Ancient World, will speak at this year's Commencement ceremony for Brown Univerity's Graduate School. Thum successfully defended her dissertation, “Words in the Landscape: The Mechanics of Egyptian Royal Living-Rock Stelae," in November and is currently the Inga Maren Otto Curatorial Fellow in Academic and Public Programs at the Harvard Art Museums. Engagement with the public around research has long been a key priority for Thum. She says, “We have a responsibility to be not only publicly visible members of our communities, but also partners in a reciprocal exchange of knowledge. I want to empower experts in their fields to be able to say, ‘This is what I did, and this is why it matters,’ to open up a community dialogue about higher ed.”
