Brown Anesthesiology is proud to offer 16 advanced positions per annual application cycle.  All positions are filled via the National Residency Match Program (NRMP) and applications are exclusively accepted via the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).  The residency program has been granted a 10-year accreditation by the American Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

*For the 2022 - 2023  NRMP season, Brown Anesthesiology will also have four (4) "R" positions available to applicants wishing to begin as a CA-1 (PGY-2) on July 1st, 2023.  Candidates for these positions must have completed an ABA-qualifying PGY-1 program by, or before this date.  

Applications will be reviewed by the selection committee on a rolling basis until December 31, 2022.  A complete application must consist of the following:

Three (3) Letters of Recommendation, one of which must be from an anesthesiologist

USMLE Scores 

Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE)

Medical School Transcript 

Completed Supplemental ERAS application.

Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Interviews for the 2021-22 season will be performed virtually.  Invited applicants will be notified via email and directed to a selection of interview dates. 

Interested applicants will also have the opportunity to apply for "Reserved" PGY-1 Preliminary Medicine positions at Brown Internal Medicine or Roger Williams Medical Center.  Representatives from these programs will participate in the interview process at Brown Anesthesiology.
