Biography

As University Curator and Registrar of the Brown Arts Initiative galleries, Nicole Wholean provides stewardship and collections care management to the art collections at Brown University.  Hired in June of 2017, Nicole joins Brown after a 20-year career in Museum Registration and Exhibition Coordination at the Florence Griswold Museum and the Wadsworth Atheneum in Connecticut.

While at the Florence Griswold Museum she was involved in the historic reinterpretation of the Florence Griswold House, securing new furnishings and supervising the conservation, movement and reinstallation of collections.  At the Wadsworth Atheneum she coordinated several blockbuster international traveling exhibitions including Pieter de Hooch 1629-1684 and Salvador Dali:  Optical Illusions.

Nicole received an A.B. in Art History from Wheaton College and an M.S. in Visual Arts Administration from New York University.
