PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] — Brown University will host a topping off ceremony on Wednesday, May 25 at 11:30 a.m. for its new School of Engineering research building. After brief remarks by University leaders and Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza, workers will hoist a beam signed by members of the Brown community into place atop the structure.
When completed, the three-story, 80,000 square-foot structure will provide critical space to accommodate the growth and expansion of Brown’s School of Engineering. The building will include specialized facilities for nanoscale and biomedical engineering, along with two full floors of new lab space designed to foster collaborative and cross-disciplinary research.
The $88-million project is scheduled for completion in early 2018. The building was designed by the Philadelphia-based architecture firm KieranTimberlake and is being built Shawmut Design and Construction.
