PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] — From as far away as the Philippines and Namibia and as near to College Hill as Providence and Newport, members of 1,783 families will converge on the Brown campus from Oct. 13 to 15 to celebrate Family Weekend 2017.
Three days of panels, speakers, performances, athletic events, campus tours and other gatherings will offer family members a taste of the undergraduate experience at Brown.
Highlights include everything from a keynote address by bestselling author James Patterson (a Class of 2020 parent) and a welcome by University President Christina Paxson and Undergraduate Council of Students President Chelse-Amoy Steele to faculty and alumni panels on entrepreneurship, the opioid crisis, populism, the aftermath of Charlottesville and much more.
“The weekend is full of great opportunities for parents and families to get a sense of the dynamic intellectual and community life experienced by their students,” said Eric Estes, vice president for campus life and student services. “We are excited to welcome them to Brown.”
As families trek to campus from nearly every U.S. state and more than 25 nations across the globe, we’ll be on site to capture highlights. Check back for our slideshow of activities as the weekend progresses.
