Brown staff convene for 26th annual Staff Development Day

During a day dedicated to learning, exploration and community building, more than 1,000 staff members from across the University engaged in workshops, tours, community service projects and more.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] — Undaunted by a steady morning rain, more than 1,000 Brown staff members turned out for the University’s 26th annual Staff Development Day on Tuesday, June 11.

The daylong event offered opportunities for employees from across Brown's departments to participate in a variety of activities — everything from career-focused workshops and tours of University research labs to volunteering at local public schools and delving into an all-day writing retreat.

The day also included a community networking lunch, a farmers market, live music and a town hall meeting with introductory remarks from University President Christina Paxson, who highlighted successes from the previous academic year and commended Brown staff for their dedication and diligence.

“All of Brown’s successes are a direct result of your outstanding efforts," Paxson said. "I want you to know that your hard work this past year has elevated Brown in so many ways. Thank you for everything you do.”
