PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] — A total of 36,793 students applied for admission to Brown’s undergraduate Class of 2024. The University admitted 2,822 students (7.7 percent), yielding a matriculating class of 1,756 students (transfer and Resumed Undergraduate Education students not included).
The figures below offer a snapshot of the members of the new class.
- 45% of class members are students of color
- 14% are first-generation college students
- 45% will receive need-based scholarship or grant aid
- 11% are international students
- Students in the class come to Brown from 69 nations
- Beyond the U.S., the countries most represented are China, Canada, Singapore, Thailand, South Korea and the United Kingdom
- The top intended concentrations include: engineering; computer science; political science; economics; biology; biochemistry and molecular biology; international and public affairs; English; neuroscience; and applied math.
- 1,566 members of the class are studying on campus, 177 are studying remotely and the remainder are commuting from off-campus locations or live on the Rhode Island School of Design campus as part the Brown-RISD dual degree program.
