Broadcast Interview Studio

The News and Editorial team in Brown’s Office of University Communications (OUC) works daily with journalists across the world to proactively share Brown’s news, including on the research and expertise of Brown faculty. Launched in February 2020, the state-of-the art Studio 225 in Providence’s Jewelry District serves as the University’s new broadcast interview studio and a critical tool in promoting the expertise of Brown faculty through national and global news media.

Through interviews broadcast from Studio 225, faculty and other Brown scholars can participate in live and taped television interviews with domestic and international networks. For broadcast interviews, Studio 225 is equipped with:

  • 82-inch 4k display with standard Brown backdrop images
  • PTZ camera
  • Television-ready lighting
  • Interruptible foldback (IFB) and talkback systems
  • Control booth equipped with Tricaster, LTN broadcast technology and full network redundancy

Arranging an Interview

Interview requests typically originate based on conversations among Brown faculty members, OUC writers / media officers and television network producers. After scheduling and confirmation, each interview is staffed by media technicians who coordinate with the network and support faculty in the studio.

For broadcast interview inquiries, contact one of OUC’s writers / media officers, call (401) 863-1638 or email [email protected].

[Note: Because the COVID-19 pandemic has limited on-campus operations at Brown to essential activities, the studio is temporarily closed. OUC staff continue to work with journalists and Brown experts to arrange interviews via Zoom, Skype or other remote technologies.]
