Broadcast Interview Studio

To facilitate broadcast interviews of Brown faculty, staff and students by members of the external news media, the News and Editorial Development team in Brown's Office of University Communications manages an on-campus studio.

The studio is home to a satellite uplink and Ready-Cam system used for live or taped television interviews with both domestic and international media outlets. The system is operated remotely by VideoLink in Newton, Mass.  We also maintain a Musicam RoadRunner CODEC and ISDN line for radio interviews, live or taped in advance. The CODEC handles common bit rates of 128 kbps (U.S.) and 64 kbps (international).

Our writers and media officers will often take the lead on coordinating studio interviews in the course of facilitating interview requests and assisting journalists in finding expert sources. Or members of the media can contact our news clerk – Jill Kimball, at (401) 863-5450 or [email protected] – who most directly manages broadcast studio operations.
