Announcement: Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer

June 20, 2017

Dear Brown Faculty and Staff,

We write to share news that Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer Lindsay J. Graham has accepted the position of Senior Vice President/Chief Operating Officer, Columbia University Medical Center and Chief Executive Officer, ColumbiaDoctors. While we regret very much that Lindsay will be leaving Brown, we offer him sincere congratulations as he assumes this exciting new challenge. In the coming weeks, we will announce plans for identifying a successor.

Lindsay came to Brown in July 2009, first serving as Executive Dean for Administration and Finance in the Division of Biology and Medicine. He joined the Provost’s Office as Vice President for Academic Finance and Administration in August 2015, and in August 2016, he was appointed to his current role.

Lindsay has made significant and lasting contributions during his time at Brown. In the last two years alone, he was central to the creation of Brown Physician's Inc., a new multi-specialty faculty group practice organization, and the first of its kind at Brown. Lindsay was also a chief architect and the inaugural leader of the re-organized and consolidated Finance Division of Brown University. In this role, he has been instrumental in developing a multi-year financial forecast to position Brown to achieve the goals established in Building on Distinction, the University’s strategic plan, in a fiscally responsible and sustainable way. He also engineered a new internal budget process to supplement and inform the work of the University Resources Committee, and to ensure that resources are focused and aligned to advance the University's strategic priorities. Prior to this, in his role with the Division of Biology and Medicine, Lindsay was involved in several critical initiatives, including the redevelopment of 222 Richmond Street as the new home for the Warren Alpert Medical School.

Lindsay has been an exceptional administrative leader and a highly valued colleague. Please join us in thanking him for the positive and enduring influence he has had over the last eight years, and offering him our very best wishes in the years to come.

Sincerely,

Richard M. Locke, Provost

Barbara Chernow, Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration
