Providing a central point of contact and authority within the office, the deputy provost and chief of staff  serves as a partner in the development and implementation of academic strategy, plans and policies; represents the provost on various projects, committees, and meetings; oversees office operations and is responsible for creating efficient workflows and implementing clear channels of communication; and has oversight of several academic affiliates. The deputy provost and chief of staff is also  the primary liaison with the Office of the President, the Office of University Communications, and the Division of Advancement, among others.
