Updates & Announcements:
This fall, students who are interested in engaged scholarship will have the opportunity to declare for the newly-developed Engaged Scholarship Certificate (ESC). Sponsored by the Department of Sociology and the Swearer Center for Public Service, the ESC allows undergraduate students to investigate public, civic, and/or social justice issues that they are passionate about through the integration of academic study with community-based learning, research, and action. Visit our ESC webpage for more information.
Visit the Swearer Center's virtual exhibit, History, Current Realities & Imagining an Anti-Racist Future. Featured artists are members of the Providence and Rhode Island community whose artwork addresses the topic of systemic anti-Black racism and anti-racist resistance. The exhibit opens on June 19, 2021 to coincide with the celebration of Juneteenth.
This is an ongoing exhibit that may evolve into an educational workshop series as part of the center’s co-curriculum for the Summer and/or Fall 2021 semesters. The Swearer Center is re-opening the call for submissions for this exhibit until Friday, July 30. Selected exhibit participants will receive compensation both for development and use of their piece in this exhibit as well as for participation in events that the Swearer Center will host in the fall to discuss the exhibit theme and their work. Questions about the exhibit and submissions can be directed to [email protected].
