Ways to Engage

Through the Swearer Center, students combine their passion for social justice and community engagement with their academic, career and life goals. Swearer Center programs and fellowships provide students with community-engaged, cohort-based experiential learning opportunities. Many of these programs include financial support.

  • In need of support in getting involved? Peer Advisors are available to help you navigate opportunities at the Swearer Center.

  • To get involved with a local organization, search and apply through BrownEngage, Brown's community engagement opportunity database.

  • Students are also encouraged to look through our list of engaged student groups that are partnered with a local organization or school. These groups act as a training and recruitment force for their partner organizations and are a great option for students who are looking to engage with the local community.

  • If you are a community organization interested in hosting students, or otherwise collaborating with the Swearer Center, visit our Community Partners page.

Visit our Background & Clearance Checks page for more information regarding students engaging with partner organizations that work with vulnerable populations. A complete background check may be required before you start.
