Carroll Bernard Webb

Hospitality and Tourism Management Educator, Newport Area Career & Technical Center

Carroll Bernard Webb is a Hospitality & Tourism Management Educator for the Newport Area Career & Technical Center. With a combined affiliation with the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute, his goal has been to open a world of possibilities to students and guide those who are interested in learning career pathways in Hospitality, Tourism and Gastronomy to enrich their understanding of careers in these fields.

While he has volunteered and fundraised for non-profits regarding food inequalities, Carroll has also worked with the Rhode Island Training School Youth Development Center, to educate and mentor teenage youths, challenging them to strive for careers and positive life alternatives for their lives and families.  In addition, he has held the position of Director of Development & Training, onboarding refugees coming to Rhode Island to help empower and rebuild their lives. His mission was to help these refugees gain their independence, improve their self-confidence, and educate new job skills while entering a new career and life in Rhode Island.

Carroll Bernard Webb attended Johnson & Wales University and obtained an Associates degree in Culinary Arts, a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, and a Masters Degree in Teaching (MAT). He is also proud to be a Navy Veteran who served his country. In his spare time, Carroll enjoys spending time with family, cooking, reading, swimming and participating in triathlons.

Carroll is elated to be a member of the CAB at the Swearer Center. He is looking forward to using his past professional and personal experiences to be impactful on food inequalities, inequitable education, and community engagement as well as the ongoing work of the Swearer Center. One of his favorite quotes regarding education and keeping an open mind to knowledge is “Educating is always a vocation rooted in hopefulness” (Bell Hooks 1994).
