Tyler Dobrowsky is a freelance theater director, producer and educator. For over fifteen years, he worked at Trinity Repertory Company in their education, community engagement and artistic departments, where he spearheaded a number of initiatives, most especially YASI, Trinity Rep’s summer camp for young people. He also worked with Marta Martinez and Rhode Island Latino Arts for Teatro en el Verano, a free, bilingual, mobile theater program that brings English/Spanish theater to communities across Rhode Island. As director of new play development at Trinity, Tyler commissioned a number of writers and performers, including George Brant, Charise Castro-Smith, Jackie Sibblies Drury, Miranda Rose Hall, James Ijames, Vatic Kuumba, Katie Pearl, Deb Salem Smith, Mark Valdez and Lauren Yee. Tyler also produced Mike Stanton’s New York Times best-seller, The Prince of Providence which became Trinity Rep’s highest selling show of all time. Directing credits include: A.R.T./Oberon, Asolo Rep, Gamm Theater, Heritage Theater Festival, PlayMakers/UNC, and the Public Theater/Under the Radar festival.

Tyler has taught at NYU/Tisch, Rhode Island College, RISD as well as a number of other universities. He is a proud member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers union and sits on the boards of Rhode Island Latino Arts as well as Spectrum Theater Ensemble, an organization dedicated to providing opportunities for neurodiverse artists. Tyler went to undergrad at Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, and received his Masters at Brown University. His first film, Capsule, written and starring Whitney White and Peter Mark Kendall, premieres through the Public Theater's website in January 2021. 

Over the course of the spring semester, Tyler will be developing a free, multi-disciplinary, COVID-safe community-wide pageant inspired by the events of the past year that will take place in Providence during the summer of 2021.
