Born in Baghdad, Iraq and raised in Cairo, Tucson and Boston, Bilal is a first-generation immigrant aspiring to be a software engineer with a passion for community engagement and social justice. On his free time, he is training for marathons or watching TED Talks.

How has Bonner impacted your time at Brown? Bonner provided me with a family of socially responsible students passionate about specific social justice projects. Through Bonner, I become more exposed to the Providence community and its strengths. I learned about different forms of community engagement, starting from direct service all the way to systematic change.
