James Kunhardt is a member of the class of 2020 at Brown University. His concentration is in Economics and he is on a pre-med track. He is also the Managing Editor of the Brown Journal of World Affairs. He is from Weston, Connecticut, and always knew he was interested in economics and public policy. However, the summer after his first year at Brown, James worked with and shadowed doctors at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City, which sparked his interest in the medical field. Since then, he has contributed to a number of research projects that are more social science-oriented, working at the Alpert Medical School throughout the past year and in the research department of a hospital in Santiago, Chile in the summer of 2018. Recently, James has accepted an offer from the Brown School of Public Health to head his own research project analyzing the effects of government disability grants on people with HIV/AIDS in South Africa. He is excited to pursue his interest in the interrelationship between healthcare, economics, and public policy in this project and others in the future.
