Bradley will examine interaction and communication between humans and African Grey Parrots in select South African breeding aviaries. She will observe the behavior of the parrots from a biological perspective, while researching the unique histories of the parrots in order to better understand the effects of captivity. Bradley will also study the behavior of rescued, often traumatized, parrots in another sanctuary, in an effort to increase the understanding of animal welfare issues and the impact of the pet trade.
