John Sheridan developed the Baseball Academy for Sustaining Education in Sport, or "BASES;" a non-profit organization whose aim is to reduce high school dropout rates and improve college access among urban student-athletes in the United States. BASES - Providence provides a one-of-a-kind mentoring experience that lasts three years and features college advising, peer mentoring, and high-level baseball skills instruction, all at no-cost to the kids or their families.

John lives in San Jose, California and is a Government and Economics teacher at Santa Teresa High School. He is also the JV Baseball Coach at the same school.
