As a Royce Sport and Society Fellow Kirsten studied the effects of incorporating a fitness routine into the recovery period of kidney transplant patients to decrease health risks such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. Kirsten hoped that such a method would lower the need for immunosuppressant drugs and ultimately improve the survival rate of transplant patients.

Kirsten received her master's from the University of California at Berkeley and her MCPHS. She is a Physician Assistant in Orthopedic Surgery in Providence, RI.
