Marc researched the health policy of medical provision and compensation for asbestos-related disease in South Africa. He paid particular attention to a community-based policy approach, and he detailed the system of compensation and health remediation for asbestos-related disease and suggest areas for improvement and research.

After college Marc spent a year as an HIV counselor and research assistant in Boston, MA. He returned to Brown for a Masters in Public Health with a focus on urban environmental health and social epidemiology. Marc completed medical school at Columbia University, and was a resident in psychiatry at New York University School of Medicine. He is a practicing psychiatrist, affiliated with Bellevue Hospital Center in New York.
