The Interplay Between Tradition and Modernity: The Case of Durairajapuram's Woman-led Panchayat

Terah used Duraurajapuram's woman-led panchayat, a local body of governance, to examine the delicate interplay between traditional and modern social structures in southern India village politic. This researched illustrated the conflicts that accompany changing meanings of class and gender in village life.

After graduating from Brown, Terah worked in the Democratic Republic of the Congo on a livelihoods/forest conservation program for USAID and WWF. He has worked as a consultant to the governments of Brazil and the Central African Republic. Most recently as the Chief of Party, Property Rights and Artisinal Diamond Development in the Central African Republic. Terah is currently the Technical Advisor to the Ivory Coast Ministry of Mining, Petroleum and Energy. He completed a dual master's degree in international affairs from Columbia University and the Paris School of International Affairs.
