Thomas will continue his involvement with the Lao American community in southeastern New England. Based at the Watlao Buddhovath Buddhist Center in Smithfield, R.I., he will build community awareness of Lao American refugee issues through both scholarship and public service to ensure the continued viability of the Lao American community in the region.
Thomas received his Ph.D. in Political Science from Yale University. In 2007 he accepted a faculty position at the University of Colorado. Tom is currently an Associate Professor at Cornell University in the Department of Government, Southeast Asia and the Modern Indonesia Project.
