Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Study of the Magnetic Properties of Chromium Oxides

Faculty Sponsor: Vesna Mitrovic

Fern investigated the unusual magnetic properties of chromium oxides through NMR spectroscopy. Increasing the understanding of these properties allowed for engineering materials with desired magnetic properties, which assisted the development of future electronic devices and quantum computing.

Fern completed a Ph.D. in Applied Physics at Stanford University. She currently lives in San Francisco and is a condensed matter physicist at the Shen Lab, Stanford Institute of Materials and Energy Sciences, Physics and Applied Physics.
