Julia researched and documented the stories of elderly Russian immigrants in Brooklyn whose lives began under the Nazi siege of Leningrad in the 1940s. Combining interviews with primary document research and translation, captured in book form the voices of the children from wartime Leningrad.

Julia was an Editor for Dow Jones from 2002-2007. She is currently a writer for the Wall Street Journal specializing in venture capital, tech and startups. Julia was the winner of the William R. Clabby Dow Jones Newswires Award for "exemplary work during 2009 and 2011". The Clabby Awards are Newswires’ highest internal honor for outstanding journalism by Newswires and Newsletters reporters and editors. In 2011 and 2013 she was the recipient of the Dow Jones Independent Achievement Award. In 2008 Julia was a finalist for the American Business Media, Neal Award for Best News Coverage. Julia lives in Brooklyn and is active in her block association. She is currently working on a book about her grandfather's life during the siege of Leningrad.
