Where is home to you? Rio Grande Valley region, South Texas

The South Texas Ideas Leadership Summit was a 1-week summer program for high-school students in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas. The summit was created to enhance the skills and passions of student leaders running the non-profit South Texas Ideas. We designed it to engage youth in conversations and activities that were outside of their comfort zone, teaching them more about their community and how to organize for positive change by collaborating with community leaders and other youth. I started and currently run South Texas Ideas, and in working with our student leaders, I wanted to create a supplemental program that could prepare them for their leadership roles within the organization and for their own realizations of positive community change.
