Since food is an important part of both Iranian and American cultures, I intend to write a cultural cookbook in order to introduce Iranian culture to American society. The book will expand upon Iranian recipes to address larger issues of food culture, economics insofar as it impacts food, history, story-telling and family life.
I am an Iranian who has lived and worked in Iran and the US. The Iran/US political conflict has deprived people from both nations the pleasure of knowing each other. I believe both countries have beautiful values to share. Broadcast and social media accounts often skew sensationalistic. This resulting imprecise portrait sustains irrational feelings and masks the full, nuanced range of human relations that exists within both societies.
