William Yang is a rising junior at Brown where he is pursuing a degree in Applied Math-Computer Science. As the eldest son of a first-generation immigrant family living in New Jersey, William is passionate about educational equity, immigrant resources, and health and wellness. He aspires to use his extensive technical experience — including statistics, programming, data visualization, machine learning, and entrepreneurship — to solve the world’s most pressing problems.
As a co-founder and CTO of Time Spent, William has built a platform to alleviate socioeconomic disparity by utilizing time, instead of money, as a form of currency. William’s venture has been selected to B-Lab, Brown’s premier summer accelerator program, where he will be strengthening, developing, and advancing his startup. At Brown, William is also a BOLT (Brown Outdoor Leadership Training) Leader and actively involved in Brown Taiwan Society. He enjoys playing strategy games such as chess and poker, and he is a fitness enthusiast who loves to run and exercise.
