The Blind Urban Subject is a public art installation initiated by Daniel Solomon (Brown 2026) with the aim of increasing understanding of how the blind and visually impaired experience of urban life. The project takes the form of a binocular tower viewer, modified to simulate four common eye conditions. It is on view at the intersection of Thayer and Angell Streets through January 2025. Design Engineering Director, Zoe Goldemberg (BRDD 2027, Apparel Design, Materials Engineering) led a team of fellow students including Yutaka Tomokiyo (BRDD 2027, Industrial Design, Undeclared) through the research, prototyping, and installation phases of this deeply interdisciplinary project.
