Dr. Leo Kim will be presenting his work on proliferative vitreoretinopathy and proliferative diabetic retinopathy. These two conditions are characterized for the formation of membranes overlying the retina. Dr. Kim will describe methods to use these patient-derived membranes to understand the pathophysiology of these conditions. Using a combination of cell culture, immunohistochemistry, and next generation sequencing on patient samples, Dr. Kim will describe methods to identify target genes that underlie the formation of pathologic membranes within the eye.
