PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] — The opening of the 2016-17 academic year will bring 304 new students to Brown’s 51 doctoral programs, the University’s Graduate School announced on April 18.
Applications to doctoral programs increased 4.1 percent to a total of 6,137 this year, up from 5,897 a year earlier. Those 304 new students come from a pool of 722 students – 11.8 percent of those who applied – who were offered admission. The deadline for admitted doctoral students to enroll for next year was April 15.
Among the University’s 28 master’s programs, some continue to admit applicants.
To date, between the doctoral applicants and those who have applied to master’s programs, the Graduate School has received a total of 9,917 applications, an increase of 3.7 percent compared to one year ago.
