For Faculty and Non-Union Staff
Brown University offers eligible employees a retirement or pension plan. Benefits are designed to complement those provided by Social Security and personal savings in order to provide financial security during retirement. Retirement benefits may vary according to your employee group, employment status, percent time, age, and date of hire.

1. The Brown University Deferred Vesting Retirement Plan
This summary is for faculty and staff employees hired on or after March 1, 2001*.
*Important Note: If you are in one of the employee groups listed above and were hired on or after the date specified for your group but you had prior service at Brown, please call the Benefits Office at 401-863-2141 to verify your eligibility for the Deferred Vesting Retirement Plan.
2. The Brown University Retirement Plan for Faculty and Exempt Employees
This summary is for faculty and staff on the monthly payroll whose date of hire is before March 1, 2001.
3. The Brown University Retirement Plan for Non-Exempt Employees
This summary is for staff on the semi-monthly payroll whose date of hire is before March 1, 2001.
