Form 990

Brown University, as a non‐profit organization, files an annual Form 990, Return of an Organization Exempt from Income Tax, with the Internal Revenue Service. The Form 990 is a publicly available disclosure document which includes information regarding the finances and governance of the University.

 The Form 990 is designed to provide the reader with an understanding of the organization’s mission as a not‐for‐profit entity, its structure of governance, and its general financial condition and report of operations for its most recent fiscal year. As required, the figures presented in the tax filing are reconciled to the University’s audited financial statements. In accordance with Federal law, with the exception of Schedule B, Schedule of Contributors, the Form 990 must be made available to any member of the general public upon request.
