Abstract

Developing new therapies to help cardiac patients by identifying, testing, and moving new therapies towards clinical use

Bio

Dr. Levit is a cardiologist in Atlanta, Georgia and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Atlanta Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Emory University Hospital. She received her medical degree from Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and has been in practice between 6-10 years. She is one of 42 doctors at Atlanta Veterans Affairs Medical Center and one of 108 at Emory University Hospital who specialize in Cardiology.

Dr. Levit came to Emory in 2007 after graduating from the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Medicine. She spent 7 years doing research and clinical training in cardiovascular disease. In 2014 she joined the faculty in the Division of Cardiology and is continuing her work on clinically translatable stem cell therapies for cardiovascular disease.

Cardiovascular diseases are the leading causes of death and disability worldwide. She is dedicated to developing new therapies to help cardiac patients by identifying, testing, and moving new therapies towards clinical use. She studies stem cell therapies to prevent heart damage and promote repair. She uses biomaterials to increase cell retention, increase efficacy, and target activity.
