The Brown Bears compete at the highest level of intercollegiate athletics in Division I
A member of the Ivy League, Brown has the nation’s third largest collegiate athletic program (and first largest program for women), with 900 athletes competing on 38 varsity sports teams — 17 for men and 21 for women.
Brown’s athletes are high-achieving students active in many areas of campus life and the community. In 2018, for example, the NCAA honored 20 Brown teams with awards for academic achievement.

Work out in the fitness centers. Take one of more than 64 physical education courses in aerobics, fitness, martial arts, dance or yoga. Form an intramural team or join one of Brown’s club sports, which offer a high level of competition without the rigorous time commitment of varsity sports.
