Mary Daly
Visiting Associate Professor

Professor Daly is a Professor at the School of Sociology and Social Policy, Queen's University, Belfast, Ireland.  Mary is a return visitor to Maxcy Hall, and she is expert in areas of welfare policy, women and poverty, and family.  She will be working with Dennis Hogan on his comparative study of children with disability.

 

 

Glenn Deane
Visiting Associate Professor

Areas of Interest: Demography, Quantitative Methods

We are extremely fortunate to have Professor Deane here teaching SOC 297-06, Spatial Data Analysis Techniques in the Social Sciences. He is nationally and internationally known for his teaching and development of spatial analysis techniques.  Since 2005 he has been program faculty for the annual summer ICPSR Program in Quantitative Methods of Social Research, held in Ann Arbor.  He is currently the Associate Director of the Lewis Mumford Center for Comparative Urban and Regional Research, and Director of the SUNY-Albany Data Services Core with the Center for Social and Demographic Analysis. 

 

 

Laurie DeRose Brooks

A "welcome back" to Laurie Derose:  Laurie is currently Assistant Professor of Sociology, University of Maryland, College Park, MD. Derose received her 1995 Ph.D. from Brown University in Sociology (specialization in demography). She is teaching two courses for us this term:  African Demography and Development, and Special Topics in Population.
