Brown Gives, the University's annual workplace fundraising campaign, supports United Way of Rhode Island's LIVE UNITED campaign.
100% of your support for United Way of Rhode Island (UWRI) goes directly to fund critical programs and urgent services—not costly overhead. This is made possible by a trust for UWRI that covers their fundraising and administrative costs.
ways to give
- Donate through the United Way of Rhode Island’s e-pledge site. You get the maximum flexibility when you donate this way. You can direct all - or a portion - of your donation to any non-profits in the United States. You can make a one-time or recurring donation in any amount via credit card, check or payroll deduction.
- Set up a recurring donation through payroll deduction during Open Enrollment*. As part of the Open Enrollment process, employees can establish a fixed pledge amount in increments of $10, $25, $50, $75, or $100 per month beginning in January 2023.
- Participate in special events organized by Brown Gives Campaign Leaders*. Campaign Leaders are volunteers in departments across campus who go the extra mile to boost donations through special events and donations can be made via our online payment system.
- Purchase a long or short sleeve Brown Gives shirt* with 100% of the proceeds going to the United Way. Shirts can be purchased in the Brown Bookstore or shipped to your home (shipping fees apply). Shirts can be purchased here.
* Funds raised via Open Enrollment, events organized by Campaign Leaders, and Brown Gives shirt purchases are directed toward the United Way’s mission of increasing equity and opportunities for all Rhode Islanders.
Please Note: Donations are post-tax; individuals may claim the deduction when tax returns are filed unless contributing to a department event.
