LIBRARY WORKSHOP: 3D Modelling with Photogrammetry

Rockefeller Library - Patrick Ma Digital Scholarship Lab
Photogrammetry is the science of turning plain old 2D photographs into 3D models. It's a powerful technique that allows for accurate 3D scanning on a relatively slim budget, using nothing but a regular camera and controlled lighting. It's also portable, so it can be used in a variety of contexts. However, there is much art to this science, and results vary significantly depending on your setup. Jon Weiland, visiting us from Stanford, has developed a workflow that balances cost and ease-of-use with high quality results. In this workshop, Jon will walk you through the process and show some results from his work in the field of archaeology.
