Brown University is committed to creating and maintaining an educational, working, and living environment that is free of any form of unlawful discrimination and harassment. Our discrimination, harassment and grievance policies are intended to provide a fair, prompt and reliable mechanism for determining whether Brown University’s discrimination and harassment policies have been violated and, if so, to provide appropriate resolution.

Complaint Procedures

  • Discrimination & Harassment Policy (Title VI)  (Incident Reporting Form)
In addition to policy statements on discrimination and harassment that reflect Brown’s commitment to creating and maintaining educational, working, and living environments that are free of any unlawful discrimination, the University recognizes its legal obligations to pursue that same goal under applicable Federal and State statues. These include Title VI and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
  • Staff Discrimination and Workplace Harassment
The policy website offers descriptions, procedures for submitting complaints, and campus and external resources.
  • Sexual Assault and Gender-Based Harassment
The Title IX and Gender Equity website has links to the complaint process and confidential and non-confidential reporting resources, pursuant to the University Sexual and Gender-Based Harassment, Sexual Violence, Relationship and Interpersonal Violence and Stalking Policy.
